Privacy policy

Last updated October 8, 2026

lumbermade is made by Halland Technologies AS in Norway. This policy explains what the lumbermade iPhone app collects, why, and what we do with it. We don't have user accounts, we don't show ads, and we don't sell or share your data for advertising.

What you send when you create a design

When you ask for a design, the app sends our server your request text, the measurements of the space, the tools you own, your region, language and units, and up to two photos. One photo shows the room and one shows the spot you measured. We use these only to generate your design.

Our server passes this to Microsoft Azure OpenAI, which generates the design. Microsoft does not use it to train models. Microsoft may keep requests for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, as described in its Azure OpenAI data privacy terms.

Our server does not store your photos, your request text or the designs it returns. Your projects, photos and designs are saved only on your iPhone.

Subscription and usage

Purchases are handled by Apple. To check your subscription and count how many designs you've made this week, the app sends us the signed transaction Apple gives it. We store the transaction ID, how many designs it has used in the current billing period, and whether Apple has refunded or revoked it. We never see your name, Apple Account or payment details.

For each design request we also log the time, a random ID created when you installed the app, whether the request succeeded and how much processing it used. We use this to run the service, prevent abuse and understand costs.

Camera, microphone and speech

The camera is used for measuring with augmented reality and for the photos you choose to send. Voice input uses Apple's speech recognition, which may process audio on your device or on Apple's servers under Apple's privacy policy. Only the resulting text is sent to us.

How long we keep data

Usage counts and request logs are kept for up to 24 months and then deleted. You can delete projects at any time in the app. Deleting the app removes everything stored on your iPhone.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing privacy@lumbermade.com. Include the install ID shown in the app's settings if you can, since we have no other way to link data to you. If you're in the EU or EEA, you can also complain to your data protection authority.

Children

lumbermade isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we change this policy we'll update the date above. For significant changes we'll also tell you in the app.
